How We Met

Jhun & Kim met a long time ago, but never got to know each other until the right time came… More than 10 years ago, they were both studying in MSU-IIT. He was an Engineering student while she had a Psych major. They’d seen each other in school events and the popular drinking parlor among students (University of Petron).

They were cut from the same cloth. They were the life of the party, good at academics and had a lot of common friends from different circles. But, they didn’t get to know each other back then and went on with their separate, challenging lives for the next few years. The right moment did not come until 5 years later.

They met again at a time when they both already had enough lessons learned, and were at a point of their lives where they were not rushing. Jepoy, Jhun’s long time friend, invited Kim to a beach outing in Carnaza Island. They connected by sharing their grief from past relationships and most importantly, Jhun piqued Kim’s interest for the outdoors. After that trip, they went on to their first camp, then their first hike, and later on developed their love for the mountains.

As they both discovered the humbling lessons of mountaineering, they also discovered love for each other. On November 3, 2018, at the summit of Mt. Pulag, the third highest mountain in the Philippines, in front of the sunrise and the sea of clouds, Jhun asked Kim to be his girlfriend and the rest, as they say, was history.
